It’s sad we have to even say it - but - Apteros is a real prop desk. On our desk you will trade live capital. There are no tricky rules to trip you up. We have a culture of integrity. If you don’t know by now, we’re the real deal here, and our business is built around the desk, not the other way around.
If you’re good enough, we’ll move you from our Jr. Desk environment to our Sr. Desk. There, you will gain extreme cost savings with access to exchange seat rates, and much more.
No Barrier To Entry
We want to make sure anyone, from anywhere, has a shot at going pro. We also don’t think we’re very good at knowing a good trader from a resume or interview. So, we have an open “Tryout” for our desk. You meet our performance standards in a paper trading account, then we will back you and begin to develop you on our Jr Trade Desk- live.
If you already are a consistently profitable trader with at least eight months of live track record, we would allow you to share that track record and go through an interview process to be brought directly on to the desk without going through our Tryout.
Work & Accountability
Apteros trade desk is more than just funding. We will expect you to manage risk effectively. We expect to have communications with you if needed throughout the trading session. We expect to see a quality end-of-session review from you so that leadership can help you build from your strengths and improve upon weaknesses. You may be invited to sit on one of our prestigious teams led by a more senior trader, which typically involves a daily meeting, accountability with your teammates, and additional opportunities for development.

We see a lot of retail traders who need to realize how big you can be as a trader. We think too many of them get into a small ball mindset - “oh if I can just make $500 per day that will be awesome” Well maybe it’s awesome, but we’re more interested in seeing you have some $50,000 days. Open your mind to those possibilities you can achieve with a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. We can help.
We know what it’s like to be on a real physical prop desk, and that’s what we’ve created now in a fully remote online environment. We have a Jr Desk environment for new live traders (with no desk fees), and a Sr Desk for bigger traders that has a $500/month desk fee but the cost savings a trader of this stature receives from the Sr Desk environment makes the fee a drop in the bucket compared to the cost savings.
We have deep pockets to back elite traders at the highest levels and largest size.
We’ve seen first hand that even the most elite traders need help. We provide that help, helping traders recover from rough patches and find the tweaks they need to make to get back to their optimal performance.
We have the risk systems and the risk managers in place.
A quick note on the current (hopefully fad?) of “sim-to-funded” companies out there. We hope you believe us when we tell you that we designed our Tryout hiring process because we believe in its merit. We are not interested in being a company trying to maximize profits from clueless traders with a pipe dream of making it as a pro trader without any hard work or training. We believe starting to develop traders who at least show some promise in a sim account, rather than reviewing their resume, is how we’d like to source talent. We don’t care if your parents are successful, and we don’t care where you went to school. Talk is cheap.
We have detailed analytics on our traders, helping them to do more of what’s working, and less of what’s not.
We have a culture of transparency, hard work, passion for markets, and that risk management falls first and foremost on the trader themselves. We respect firm capital. We believe in utilizing each and every day to get just a little bit better than we were the prior day.
Try Out for our Desk
Start out with $50k of “buying power” while trading. Positions will use exchange initial margin requirements. Ex: ES futures currently ~14k margin requirement per contract.
Make +$10k without losing -$4k from starting balance - there is no trailing drawdown
$1,500 daily loss limit using net P/L. Stop your losses prior to this. (Also from starting balance, no trailing stop.)
No overnight holds. You can trade essentially 23 hours a day, but no holding into exchange resets.
Trade a minimum of 30 sessions to show us enough work, but take as long as you need beyond that to achieve the target. If you hit the profit target before 30 sessions, please don’t try to “coast” your way through the rest of the sessions to game the system- we will deny your passing our Tryout. Keep trading as normal.
If at any point you fail the Tryout by violating the daily loss limit, or the max drawdown, etc. you may “reset” the account for a fee. We know trading is hard, even the best traders might have to reset before passing.

Live Trade Desk Details
Our main goal is to develop you as a trader, and size you up as you show consistency and risk-adjusted performance.
You keep 60% of the net P/L, we take the downside risks.
We do give a 100% net P/L payout on your very first withdrawal (of up to $100,000) as a way of saying thank you for being a part of Apteros.
Your max drawdown starts out at -$4,000 just as the Tryout - this is not trailing. As you grow and size up, we will more than likely increase your max drawdown as we also increase your daily loss limit, etc.
The daily loss limit you start with is determined together with Apteros leadership and yourself as you begin. We do encourage you to start small - it’s a marathon not a sprint, and we want to help you avoid what is a real risk of ruin.
You’ll be required to do basic work such as doing an end of day review for any session you trade. We have a culture of getting better, and if you aren’t reviewing your work - you aren’t improving like you could be.
We will be in your corner - watching your risk, helping you set goals, analyzing your stats, looking at your trade fills, reviewing your reviews, and offering feedback and advice where needed. Our job is to get to know your trading, and help you thrive. Your job is to be coachable, manage risk, execute as best you can, and put in the work to get better each day.
There are opportunities to move past the Jr Desk, onto a Sr Desk and access tremendous cost savings as a larger trader.
